Flight Design builds light airplanes in Germany and Ukraine and has a large market base here in the USA.  The most popular here are the CTSW and the CTLS, both light sport category and easy to fly and maintain.  They are powered by the Rotax 912 ULS 100 hp engine of which we at Estherville Aviation are a certified repair centre.

In 2015, we became a service center for the Flight Design aircraft and am finding them to be quite popular and are seen at many airports.  They are a smartly designed composite aircraft with the BRS parachute as standard equipment.  Most are very nicely equipped with Dynon and Garmin avionics and often with autopilots.  A lot of airplane for 5 gallons an hour of car gas!

Flight Design requires a 5 year replacement of the fuselage rubber hoses which includes removing the wings to get to those hoses, but the wings are removed and reinstalled quite easily.  This also allows for the required wing inspection.  Most customers coordinate this with the Rotax 5 year rubber replacement.  Don’t forget the parachute is usually due for repack every 6 years and the rocket motor due for replacement at 12 years.  Call us if you have questions about your Flight Design or would like to schedule maintenance.
