WHY WERE DIFFERENT

Care Flight is a pioneer in the helicopter air ambulance business. What began as a shared program between area hospitals to provide reliable, critical care services across rural Nevada has grown into a comprehensive, 24/7 transport service with skilled pilots, experienced medical professionals and state-of-the-art technology. From a single helicopter in the 1980s to a fleet of four AStar 350 B3 helicopters, Care Flight aviation and medical professionals now respond to more than 1,500 transport calls per year.

SERVICE AREA

Care Flight provides air ambulance, critical care transport services from five bases across northern Nevada and northeastern California. Each base has a functional coverage area of approximately 150 miles. Care Flight can transport patients to the facility best suited for their medical needs to cities like Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco and Palo Alto.

Due to the unique geographical terrain and environmental conditions in Care Flights service area, Care Flight is designated as a Helicopter First Responder and is not required by Air Methods, our aviation partner, to have first responder ground unit support in place in order to respond to a scene. This designation, held by less than five percent of Air Methods helicopters, allows patient care to begin without delay.
