Hydrotherapy, also known as aquatic therapy or water therapy, is a form of physical therapy that relies on the unique properties of water to promote mobility, improve muscle function, reduce swelling, and provide pain relief. What makes aquatic physical therapy exercises truly unique is that they take advantage of the physics of buoyancy, drag, and hydrostatic pressure to provide a wide variety of physical therapy benefits. Hydrotherapy is an excellent alternative physical therapy treatment for patients who are unable to perform traditional exercises, have limited mobility, or patients who struggle with chronic pain.
