Stop and waste valves are a common way to separate irrigation water from your main home water line, but leaks can occur on either side or from the valve itself. If your water meter shows a leak and you cannot find any obvious signs in your lawn, a leaking stop and waste valve is often the culprit. These leaks usually happen in valves older than 10 to 20 years, but they can occur as early as 4 to 5 years after installation, depending on the parts used. Even if you do not see a puddle at your shut-off valve, you may still leak. If you’re unsure what’s going on, give us a call for a free estimate over the phone.
