Youth Screening Program (YSP)

This program provides detention screening services at multiple locations across Florida to help determine whether youth taken into custody will remain in their community or be placed in secure care before their next court hearing. Screening specialists conduct assessments for mental health and substance use and connect youth and families to additional support services when needed. By working closely with law enforcement, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and court systems, the program helps promote public safety while using a trauma-informed approach to guide youth toward the most appropriate and supportive outcomes.
