An Ejector Pump is used when a plumbing fixture is located below the main sewer line. Since these lines run on gravity, ejector pumps are necessary in cases like this because sewage would clog pipes as there would be no gravity to move the debris along. Therefore, excess pressure is needed to move the sediment up the pipe and into the main sewer line. Thanks to ejector pumps, customers have the ability to build a bathroom anywhere in the house, even the basement.
